The FAFSA Guru Financial Aid Academy
Understanding the financial aid process and navigating it confidently while learning strategies to maximize your financial aid award
The Financial Aid academy is designed to help families better understand and navigate the overwhelming college financial aid process step by step. It will help them stay on top of deadlines and what to expect next, avoid common mistakes that can cost them a lot of money and help them maximize their financial aid packages.
Each month a new webinar or video will be uploaded outlining all the financial aid related tasks families should be focused on and/or expecting that particular month and things to be aware of to ensure that you are on track
In addition, other financial aid and scholarship resources will be added regularly to the ever growing resource library so that you will have access to everything you need at your fingertips related to the financial aid process, housed in one place.
The academy just launched in December of 2019 and I'm so excited to bring it to all of you!
My goal was to provide a valuable service that EVERYONE could afford and one that would give families the resources they need to more confidently navigate the financial aid process and position themselves to get the best financial aid packages possible!
I look forward to working with you!

The Financial Aid Academy is designed for juniors and seniors in high school (and their parents) and current college students
I began my career in higher education just out of high school when I landed my first "real job" working as a Financial Aid Advisor in a local Truck Driving School. I quickly realized that I loved working with and helping students navigate the college planning process and achieving their dreams, and so my journey began.
Since then (and for the past 29 years), I've worked in the areas of admission, financial aid, student advising, college transitions and have taught college courses at both public and private colleges.
I decided to leave my career in higher education and start my own business several years ago as I found that there was a significant gap between the needs of families and the available help they could get with the college planning process, and I wanted to bridge that gap.
Most Educational Consultants out there require families to sign on for expensive packages that cost thousands of dollars. And as far as the free help that's available, well you know how frustrating it can be calling an 800 number and trying to get someone on the phone. Most admission and financial aid counselors are overloaded and while they help as much as they can, they just don't have the time or resources to provide the more in depth help that some families need and want.
That's where I come in. I specifically designed my services to be affordable and do not require families to sign on for any expensive packages. I require a minimum 30 minute consult call and that's it.
I assist families across the U.S. (and even some in other countries) navigate the overwhelming college planning and financial aid process and help them maximize their financial aid packages and I do this virtually via zoom or over the phone. I offer a wide range of services but my expertise is in the area of financial aid.
I am passionate about helping families better understand and glide through the college planning process more smoothly.
I live just outside of Portland Maine with my husband Clint and 2 of our combined 6 children, and have seen 4 of our children through the college planning process, so I understand first hand the frustration that comes along with that.
